Just reading regs on rear camber and toe etc
Rear “Toe in/out” may be adjusted by the use of 2 shims on the bottom 2 mounting bolts and 2 shims on either (but not both) of the front or rear 2 mounting bolts and must be fitted between the rear suspension cross member and the wheel bearing hub assembly. The maximum shim thickness is defined as follows: Shim Position Max Thickness Bottom 2 mounting bolts (camber) 2.00mm Front 2 mounting bolts (toe out) 0.125mm Rear 2 mounting bolts (toe in) 0.125mm
Does the above mean you can have either 2mm camber or either toe in or out?
sorry if i’m missing the obvious but just want to be sure
Thanks in advance, Matt
Hi Matt,
The intention is that you can have both camber and toe in/out. The limit of shim thickness is 2mm for camber shim and the limit for toe shim is 0.125mm. What we’re trying to prevent is increase in track and excessive camber.
I think next year we will change this rule to specify a maximum negative camber angle and maximum front and rear track. There appears to be so much variation in the rear beams (whether due to manufacturing tolerances or slight accident damage) that the shim limits may not give the desired camber or may give too much.
Hi Caryl and thanks for your reply
So in theory you can have a 2mm shim on lets say the front lower bolt a 2.125 mm shim on the rear lower bolt and a .125mm shim on the rear upper bolt on the n/s/r hub to give negative camber and toe in ?
Are there specific shims you have to use? i.e. supplied by club
Did you ever get sorted with this Matt?
So basically you can fit the two lower shims as well as the front upper for toe?
