Hi all,
Can anyone advise on any differences in technical/equipment requirements between what is stated in the C1 regs or MSA blue book and what is required for European tracks, specifically Spa?
We are aiming to get to Spa, so as we prep the car we would like to make sure that we have all bases covered before we get there. Obviously we’d rather only build/buy once and not be rushing around upgrading/changing bits in Belgium after being told off by a scrutineer….!!
For example- I only recently learnt of the requirement for a 3 layer suit at Spa, vs the 2 layer that would be sufficient in the UK. I believe there are also differences in fire extinguisher requirements?
Many thanks
Frank

I’m not aware of the requirement for a 3 layer suit at Spa. In October 2016 my 2 layer suit was scrutineered successfully. However, you must have a full set of FIA approved underwear (long johns, vest, socks and balaclava). They check all the underwear at scrutineering.I did have to buy a new fire extinguisher because mine had not been tested within the last 24 months even though the gauge was nicely in the green segment. There is a guy there that sells mostly clothing, helmets and a small range of hardware (brake fluid, fire extinguishers etc). It was heavy as hell and I needed 2 packs of KY when I paid for it. Moral of the story – make sure your fire extinguisher has been tested and the sticker is correctly filled in.
You will need to apply FIA approved window film to the side and rear windows. This, I believe, is fitted to the inside of the glass. We managed to get away with it last year, but they will pick it up this year I’m sure.
There should be no other technical issues, because we race under our technical regulations.

That’s interesting re: the race suit…. and completely the opposite of what we were told by the nice man on the GPR stand at Autosport….!!

Competing over here with National B + 6 signatures (1 days marshalling or ARDS advanced can count as signatures), then B can be upgraded to A

They are also very keen on dates on seats and seat belts as well compliance of all your nomex including shoes and socks.
