ParticipantIs it possible to purchase springs seperate to the gaz kit?
I believe that 2018 we have to use standard shocks.
If unavailable what spec is suitable please.
Thanks

ModeratorThe exact rules on springs for next year haven’t been finalised yet. We have another test day in a couple of weeks time to make a final decision. It could be that no changes will be made.

ModeratorOne thing is certain, the spec of the Gaz kit will not change, and also, these kits are no longer available for purchase.

ParticipantWe are keen to find out what suspension to buy. We cannot really progress with our build until we know whats going on. I was all set to buy the kit on the website but have been advised to wait until the final decision, but we want to finish this thing and get out on track 😀

ModeratorHi Shoestring, we have had Board meeting today going through all the different things that need to be decided for next year. To help you and others move forward with their builds and have some fun and get on track a bit sooner I can advise the following.
Whilst we were going to further test alternative springs etc at an upcoming test day we have decided that the most appropriate way forward with this element of the regulations is that there will be no changes for next season, the springs and dampers permitted will not change.

ParticipantThank you Philip. Full steam ahead !

ParticipantDoes that mean that the GAZ dampers will still be permitted next year?
10/11/2017 at 1:09 pm #2332Philip Myatt
ModeratorThe Gaz dampers are being given grandfather rights to the early adopters who purchased them in 2016. None have been sold in 2017.
On an ongoing basis we will continue to monitor the relative performance of the allowed products.

ParticipantClub shop now lists the Billi dampers without springs and suitable for apex springs??
Is this a new option for 2018?24/11/2017 at 1:00 pm #2663Caryl Wills
KeymasterThis is a new option for 2018. Unless you have Gaz dampers on grandfather rights, you can only use the standard damper or the Bilstein damper. You can use either the standard spring, the Apex spring or the Eibach spring that came with the Bilstein B12 kits we sold in 2017.

ParticipantWhat is idea behind offering the apex spring as on option for the Bilstein kit? Most people will now have to buy a set of springs.

KeymasterBilstein springs are not available currently. There is no need to buy another set of springs – you can use either the Bilstein ones if you’ve got them or Apex springs if you haven’t.

ParticipantI see. I understand if the springs aren’t available although this does leave us with 5 possible suspension configurations. Is eibach not currently making them? They are just their pro-line version for the c1 iirc.

Participantif we can find a supplier of the B12 kits with eibach springs can we source them from elsewhere and that will be ok for compliance for the championship?
